Accreditation Standards
4300 PROCEDURES FOR ACCREDITATION
- A school must be an associate member of CSF in good standing for a term of two years before it is eligible to receive accreditation. During this period the school may NOT publicize itself as being an accredited member. Exceptions to this two-year waiting policy are found in Standard 4600 and Standard 4404.
- During its second year of associate membership the school may apply for candidate status. (See exceptions to this policy found in Standard 4600 and Standard 4404)
- Upon initial inquiry the school receives an application to join CSF. The CSF Accreditation Handbook may be purchased at a nominal fee from the CSF office.
- All applications for associate membership and/or accredited membership shall be sent by the applying school to the Secretary of CSF for processing.
- The Secretary shall send copies of the application to the CSF President and to the CSF Executive Director, who will arrange for an initial on-site visit.
- All attached fees shall be sent immediately by the Secretary to the Treasurer of CSF for processing and deposit.
- A letter acknowledging receipt of the application shall be sent immediately by the Secretary to the applying school, with copies to the President and the Executive Director.
- All applications shall be submitted to the CSF membership for action at the next possible scheduled meeting, unless the executive committee determines that there are sufficient reasons to postpone the action.
- If an existing associate member school believes that it has met CSF Standards and determines to proceed with the accreditation process, a completed CSF Application for Accreditation must be filed with the CSF Vice President of Accreditation, who will arrange for a pre-accreditation on-site visit.
- If the application is acceptable, a CSF chairperson will conduct an on-site visit to further confirm the school readiness to proceed with the entire evaluation process. If the chairperson determines that the school is ready for an on-site visit, the school will be granted the status of candidacy for accreditation.
- Upon candidacy the CSF chairperson will guide the school through the accrediting process as the CSF Visiting Team Chairperson.
